Viking and Saxon Rounded Shields

More objects for my Honours Project. This time, the designs were based on photographs I took at the viking festival Jorvik in York. It was almost a surreal dream to be surrounded by so many people proudly dressed as Vikings and Saxons. I truly enjoyed the historical re-enactments of combats and wars, I hope to visit again next year!

These assets were made keeping in mind optimization in VR. Both shields share some textures and UV space, while only the front designs are unique. For the Saxon shield design, I used colours inspired by historical banners of Northumbria and straight lines that contrast the Viking shields designs. The latter are, on the other hand, smoother and with the colours of royal banners from Denmark. The design choices were made to distinguish the two factions mentioned in our game (Vikings warriors from Sweden-Denmark and English warriors from Northumbria).
